Star Wars Animation Player
I have created a Star Wars Animation Player that plays the first half of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, in glorious ASCII text! I originally found the animation on the Telnet service Blekko, but the last time I tried to go there, it was unavailable. However, a while ago, I found the original site for this animation, so check it out!
What's New?
You may have used the old SEAL 1.x version of this program. In this new version, each frame now appears for a set amount of time specific to that frame, so text appears long enough for you to read it, while ships don't take ten years to cross the screen, for example, as opposed to before where every frame appeared for the same amount of time.
System Requirements
There are versions of the Animation Player available for the following platforms:
- DOS (protected-mode, using DJGPP)
- Windows (9x, ME, 2000, XP, NT 4.0, or higher)
- SEAL 2.0 (tested with SEAL 2.00.11 and SEAL 2.00.10 (Lambda))
- SEAL 1.x (tested with Bad Seal 0.54 and StarSeal)
The Windows version requires the ALLEG40.DLL file. The downloads I previously linked to for this DLL are unfortunately not available at preset, but I will try to update this page with a new version shortly.
